Design Details

A sage-green tissue kurta scattered with gold zari bootis and finished with a woven gold border at the hem, paired with a cotton silk dupatta carrying a wide gold zari border. Sequin work adds a further touch of light across the surface. Tissue has a natural metallic sheen that shifts between green and gold depending on the light, which gives this set far more presence than its simple silhouette suggests. A graceful option for festive occasions and receptions.

My Story

Tissue is a weaver’s sleight of hand - a fabric with a fine metallic thread carried through the weft so the whole cloth catches light rather than just the border. It grew out of the zari traditions of Chanderi and Banaras, where flattened gold and silver wire was wound onto a silk core and woven in, and it was worn in Mughal courts precisely because it read as luminous rather than loud. The modern version keeps the effect and loses the weight, which is why tissue can look far richer than its simple silhouette suggests.

Wash and Care

This set mixes fabrics, so treat the pieces differently. The kurta and dupatta should be dry cleaned for the first wash, then hand washed in cold water and dried flat in the shade. The bottom can be washed in cold water with a mild detergent from the start. Do not bleach or wring. Press on a low heat with a cloth between the iron and any zari or embroidery.
