Design Details
A peach Chanderi kurta woven with fine stripes and temple-arch motif panels in gold and rust, with an ornate yoke worked in sequins and beads. The matching peach dupatta carries a printed border in the same motif family, and peach trousers complete the set. Chanderi's sheer, lightly glossy weave gives the soft peach a luminous quality, and the architectural motif work makes this one of the more ornate pieces in the collection - well suited to weddings and festive evenings.

My Story
Chanderi comes from a small town in Madhya Pradesh where weavers have worked since at least the thirteenth century, and its defining quality comes from a refusal to compromise: the yarn is never degummed. Leaving the natural gum on the thread is what gives Chanderi its glassy translucence and cool, papery shine - and what makes it maddeningly delicate to weave. Motifs are not printed on but woven in by hand with a separate needle for each butis, gold zari worked into a ground so sheer you can see light through it. A single sari can take a weaver a month.
Wash and Care
Dry clean only for the first wash. After that, hand wash separately in cold water with a mild detergent, never wring the fabric, and dry flat in the shade. Press on a low heat with a cloth between the iron and any zari or embroidery.
