Design Details

A dusty rose cotton silk kurta in a fine tonal stripe, with a V-neck yoke worked in cream and gold embroidery and sequins that carry down the placket. The contrast dupatta is printed in a diamond patchwork of muted rose, plum and gold, sequinned to match, and sits over a cotton silk blend bottom in the same rose. Cotton silk gives the shade a soft, dusty depth and a gentle sheen, making this an elegant option for festive daywear, receptions and family celebrations.

My Story

Cotton silk is a blend that solves an old problem. Pure silk drapes and shines but does not breathe; pure cotton breathes but creases and falls flat. Running a silk warp against a cotton weft gives you the sheen and the structure of one with the coolness and give of the other - which is why Indian weavers have paired the two fibres for centuries, and why cotton silk holds the line of a kurta cleanly through a long day when cotton alone would have gone soft by afternoon. The zari worked into it is flattened metallic thread, wound on a silk core in the Banarasi tradition.

Wash and Care

Dry clean only for the first wash. After that, hand wash separately in cold water with a mild detergent, never wring the fabric, and dry flat in the shade. Press on a low heat with a cloth between the iron and any zari or embroidery.
