Design Details
A taupe-grey Chanderi kurta covered in an all-over gold zari floral jaal, finished with a woven zari border at the hem, and paired with a contrast rose-pink Chanderi dupatta carrying the same golden jaal, a deep zari border and tassels. Chanderi's characteristic sheer, glossy hand gives the set a luminous quality that photographs beautifully. The muted grey-and-pink pairing with gold makes it a refined pick for weddings, receptions and festive evenings.

My Story
Chanderi comes from a small town in Madhya Pradesh where weavers have worked since at least the thirteenth century, and its defining quality comes from a refusal to compromise: the yarn is never degummed. Leaving the natural gum on the thread is what gives Chanderi its glassy translucence and cool, papery shine - and what makes it maddeningly delicate to weave. Motifs are not printed on but woven in by hand with a separate needle for each butis, gold zari worked into a ground so sheer you can see light through it. A single sari can take a weaver a month.
Wash and Care
This set mixes fabrics, so treat the pieces differently. The kurta and dupatta should be dry cleaned for the first wash, then hand washed in cold water and dried flat in the shade. The bottom can be washed in cold water with a mild detergent from the start. Do not bleach or wring. Press on a low heat with a cloth between the iron and any zari or embroidery.
